Aalo, previously known as Along, is a small picturesque town situated at the meeting point of two rivers Sipu & Yamgo in the West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. It is the district headquarters and a popular tourist destination. Famous for its orange cultivation and natural splendour, you can take part in a variety of tourist activities here including trekking, river rafting etc.
Basic Homestays and Government cottages are available. Surrounded by valleys & mountains along with river Yomgo river with greenery all over Aalo is one the most magnificent scenic beauty in Arunachal Pradesh.
Aalo is well connected by road, rail & air. Regular bus & taxi services are available from Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh, which is approximately 300 Km away. Pashighat 102 Km away is a major town. Aalo has its own airport, though it has been used by the defence forces till now. Commercial operation has been proposed but not started at the time of writing this article. The nearest airport is Pashighat which has connecting flights to Guwahati. The nearest Railway station is at Silapathar in Assam about 139 Km from Aalo.
Patum Bridge – The Bridge is popular among tourists as it offers a panoramic view. Yonago River flows below the bridge. During the night people get to see the spectacular view of the bridge with lights in the passage of the bridge.
Kazu Village - The tourist gets one of the most beautiful scenic views from this village a few kilometres from Aalo. The greenery surrounding this place is very calm & quiet with a peaceful atmosphere.
Some of the major other sightseeing points are River rafting at Siyom River, Hanging Bridge, etc.
Aalo has a tropical climate with lots of rainfall during the year.
Galo is the main language of the Aalo people. People from different communities live here together in harmony. Donyi-Polo is the main religion of the Aalo people.
